  • What is it? Pics4Mail is an amazingly easy to use application that lets you resize and crop an image. Load the image in, select how large you want the image to be (from a simple slider control) and cut out the bit you want simply by drawing a rectangle on it with your mouse. It's that simple! No complicated menus or toolbars, you're done in seconds!. It works great on Windows 95,98,NT,XP,2000,2003 & Vista.

    Is it free? Yes!!

Really free? Yes!! You can even send it to your friends if you like.

Where do I get it? Download it from the menu at the side. Still having trouble? Seriously go look again. What you again? Ok click here and save it somewhere like your desktop.

How do I load my image? Click on 'Open' and locate your image using the file dialog as in any other application. Alternatively, you can drag images in from Windows. Also, you can paste an image from your Windows clipboard. Don't try forcing real photographs into your monitor though - that won't work.

How do I run Pics4Mail again? After you have run Pics4Mail for the first time, it appears in the start menu under 'Programs'. Also, if you right click on images in Windows and select 'send to' you can load the image directly into Pics4Mail.

How do I crop an image? Right click on the image in the source side of 'Pics4Mail' (That's the image on the left) - while still holding down the button, drag the mouse and you should see a rectangle. When you let go of the button the right 'output' picture will change to show the area of the image you chose. You can keep doing this quickly until you're happy, don't worry - your not cropping the original image and can choose to 'save' the new 'cropped' one as an entirely new file.

Mum-netters It is very nice that Pics4Mail is still being used by patrons of the 'mumsnet' forums. However, I just wanted to clear this up: I am not the husband/partner/room-mate of a mum-netter (as I have read when Googling Pics4Mail) :-) However I can assure you that Pics4Mail is especially easy to use and safe for Mums everywhere.

I'm a crazy sucker for legal mumbo-jumbo Fine..Pics4Mail is written in C++ using MFC and the (discontinued) PaintLib graphics libraries by Ulrich von Zadow and other contributors.
