Microsoft Sharepoint Office Application Developer Exam 70-542

While I was studying for the 70-542 Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007 Application developer exam, I became increasingly frustrated due to the lack of quality consolidated information on the web concerning the exam format and where to find information that would actually be relevant.

Having now passed the exam, I’ve written up my study notes here so that people who legitimatly want to study for this test can get a little bit of guidance. Good luck!

    Hi,
    Nice post. It will be great help for the person preparing for exam.
    Can you please guide, how much time this exam preparation will take if a person is fully new to share point.

    Hi Nibs,

    Difficult one to answer, being “new to SharePoint” is one thing; but how new are you to C#/.Net development and the many other concepts required to take this exam?

    Assuming you are a proficient enough .Net Software developer with access to an Office SharePoint server. I wouldn’t book this exam in anything less than one months time.

    Follow the guide (and the official Microsoft plan) carefully though and I think you’ll cover the important concepts, you should also try to get hold of a decent book (I recommend the “Professional SharePoint 2007 Development” book by Wrox press).

    Yesterday I passed 70-542 and I followed all your steps. It was really helpful during my preparation.
    I prepared for 1.5 months for this exam.
